Building Success: The Power of Persistence and Delayed Results
Success will not happen overnight. People make small changes, fail to see a tangible result, and decide to stop.
Think of a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without a crack. Yet at the hundredth and first hit, the stone splits in two. It was not that last hit that did it, but all that had gone before. Success is like the hundredth and first hit; all the work done is the hits that have gone before.
All the efforts and work done are not wasted; they are stored until they cross the plateau of potential. A point where you have done the work required to enjoy success and unlock a new level of potential. We often want to enjoy the results of our work at that very moment and hope that they will come quickly. But in reality, they are delayed, and we become demotivated and quit.
It is not until months or years later that we realize the true value of our previous work. Our previous efforts are not wasted when the results don't happen overnight. They are simply being stored. It is not until much later that the full value of previous efforts is revealed.
